Lessons for Canada
So in the first week days of the Ramadan War, Iran cost the US 11.3 billion dollars1. And if they are actually able to drive the US out of the region and bring 110 years of European domination of West Asia to a close...
What will a humiliated Trump do to shift the conversation and get a win to satisfy his bruised ego. What if he decides to make good on his threat to turn Canada into the 51st state? How would Canada defend itself?
Seeing as the US hasn't won a war since WWII by some analysis2, this isn't impossible at all. So let's see how the US and its blue and white colony in the Levant have been successfully held off recently.
The first option is North Korea, nukes. Get some on inter continental ballistic missiles, maybe point a few of them at Russia for appearance but have most of them aimed squarely south of the border. Mutually Assured Destruction.
The second option is Mutually Assured Pain which seems to be working quite well for Iran, this would be a homegrown military industry pumping out hundreds of thousands of cheap drones, and thousands of fairly cheap missiles, buried and scattered across Canada in hardened underground missile cities, pointed at hundreds of sensitive points in the USA. They can attack but no Dome of any kind will be able to withstand the counter offensive and they'll feel it until peace is imposed.
The third option is where it starts to get even more painful, and that's the model of the Afghani Resistance. Let the invading Americans come in and take all the important locations they want, but then engage in a constant insurgency, raiding from the hinterlands, making supply lines and trade routes such a mess that they will eventually get exhausted and leave.
The final one is for when Canada refuses to give up a single bloody inch to the Yanks. And that's the strategy of the Southern Lebanese resistance, and especially, the Palestinian one in Gaza. Tunnels, lots of them with entry and exit points that will allow Canadians to pop up in places the Americans try to hold and engage with short range weapons. Luring the invaders into ambushes and booby traps until they can't take anymore.
There's a few takeaways here, first that Canada really needs to get the hell out of Five Eyes and start to get weapon systems that cannot be controlled by Americans.
And secondly, we have a lot more in common with people we have been conditioned to think of as our enemies, rather than the one economic and military bully that we used to think of as an ally. Which is why Carney not unequivocally condemning what the US did to Venezuela and is doing to Iran such a disgusting travesty, we've been threatened just like they are. Being mostly more pale doesn't give us some magical immunity. And something tells me his increased military spending isn't going to do a damn thing to protect us from the Americans. He won't invite Iranians, Afghanis, Lebananis, and Palestinians to teach us and our armed forces what we desperately need to know. Instead we seem to be buying expensive toys that won't do a damned thing to protect us from the Yankees3.
All opinions my own, in the end only God knows best.
