The ElHayek Family

As we focus on what is happening with Iran and Lebanon, it is important to remember the dire situation Palestinians are in, especially in Gaza.

So I'd like to introduce you to Mahdy Elhayek and his family in Gaza.

Mahdy has been working in Türkiye since before the assault on Gaza began, and since the hostilities started has been supporting them in any way that he can. His family is from the North of Gaza and have returned there after a lot of displacement. They have been lucky enough to find a habitable rented house which is only partially damaged. It is to maintain their rent, living, and medical expenses that we have setup a fundraiser.

Life is hard as they rely on battery for a little electricity, get water by filling up a gallon jug daily, and cook food over a wood fire. But still they are persisting, especially with the education of the younger members of the family and your support is critical in helping them get through these harsh times.

The people being supported consist of:

Mahdy's father and his mother who has bladder and kidney problems and needs regular medicine

Older brother Ihab, his wife and their two young children Marwan and Imran who are learning to read and write

Younger brother Muhammad and his pregnant wife

Younger brothers Muhannad and Mu'min, Mu'min is studying for his high school diploma including learning English

Any help, even a little bit of consistent monthly support, can go a long way to support Mahdy and all ten of his family members! So please please please check the top bink that is in my laio to go to the fundraiser page and donate what you can.

The help is provided through a group of concerned people worldwide working with the Connecting Gaza initiative. Connecting Gaza links families in Gaza with people outside who are able to provide them a human connection to the outside world to show them they have not been forgotten. We share stories and pictures with each other and put a human face to the desperately needed humanitarian efforts. This is how we are able to provide updates on how Mahdy and his family are doing. Thank you so much for considering this effort and you can reach out to us if you would like to supplement your financial donations with regular correspondence with Mahdy or others in similar situations.
